There are several different options for braces that we offer. Personal preference and case selection play important roles to determine which type is best for you or your child.
- Traditional Metal braces are tiny metal brackets that are bonded to each tooth. Wires are used to gently shift teeth over time.
- Ceramic braces are tooth-colored brackets that are bonded to each tooth. Wires are used to gently shift teeth over time.
- Invisalign is a system of clear aligner trays that are swapped out every few weeks systematically correcting and straightening the teeth. They are removable and a great way to straighten your teeth without anyone knowing and also be able to eat without the restrictions that traditional braces have.
Most patients take anywhere from 6 months to 24 months to finish their braces or orthodontic treatment. It’s different for every patient and a consultation will give you a general idea of how long your case will be.
What age is best for braces? You are never too old for orthodontics! We offer many alternatives and treatment options for all age ranges. Traditional braces, tooth-colored ceramic braces, and Invisalign clear aligners are different treatment options. Some cases start as young as 7 years old, based on development and eruption of the adult teeth and other cases are on adults of all ages for other dental issues and/or cosmetic purposes.
Patients who are in orthodontic treatment usually are scheduled for appointments every 4-8 weeks for the duration of treatment. The orthodontist closely monitors and makes adjustments based on the specific treatment plan for the individual patient. The duration of treatment depends on the patient and the severity of the case.
